"Captain" Rick Jones

Rick Jones, "Captain" of the FishBait brand and related companies is a serial entrepreneur and highly successful small business owner.

Rick leads FishBait Marketing, one of the premier collegiate sports marketing agencies in the United States, working with clients including ESPN, Capital One, Dollar General, The College Football Hall of Fame and Werner Ladder.

Rick is a partner in R&R Bait & Tackle, a Nashville, TN based agency specializing in sponsorship sales and activations in country music, with clients including JTV, BMI, CMA, Opry Entertainment Group and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Rick also is a partner in EngageMint, a fan engagement consultancy, whose clients include DePaul, Florida International University, The University of Louisiana, and Tulane.

Rick is a fourth generation Atlantan and a graduate of Georgia Southern University who started his career as a high school and college basketball coach. He created and sold two other sports and event marketing agencies prior to forming FishBait Marketing in 2003, both of which became national and international firms. Over the years, Rick found that the foundational lessons he learned and practiced as a former basketball coach translated well into business leadership when combined with his relevant business experience.

Rick is also a renowned public speaker and seminar leader worldwide, known as one of the leading experts on marketing communications and segments, corporate sponsorships, event marketing, sales techniques and team building. A cutting-edge speaker with high entertainment value, Rick has unique insight on key topics relevant for today's small business owner. He shares with his audience more than just basic information, he shares the wisdom needed for the appropriate application of that knowledge.

Gratitude is a recurring theme throughout Rick's career and life. Many of the events and marketing programs he and his team have been a part of have benefited large charities. Rick estimates that through many of his cause-related event planning he has helped raise more than $50 million for charity and other cause marketing initiatives.

Today, Rick and his wife, Charlotte, reside on Wadmalaw Island, SC. When Rick is not working – he is fishing!
